ABOUT
US

The Old School News is the monthly magazine of the The Old School at Stoke Climsland, Cornwall, UK. It was first published in 1998 as a newsletter about events and activities at The Old School which had been purchased with help from the Heritage Lottery Fund and was beginning to be used as a community centre for the parish and surrounding area.

For most of the period since 1998 the Old School News has appeared monthly. It has expanded over this period and has included information about events and activities across the parish and local area, whether or not these were taking place at The Old School.

Its production has been by volunteers and it has circulated in the Stoke Climsland parish, in Callington and in other nearly parishes. At its peak over 4000 copies were printed each month, most of which were delivered directly to households in this area. The costs of production and distribution were met through advertising.

Early in 2020 the Old School News was suspended because the coronavirus lockdown severely limited advertising revenue and made distribution impossible. In its stead a much smaller online Newsletter was produced every 10-12 days. For the time being, this website is being used to publish the Newsletter.

The decision was then taken to move the Old School News online and to print only a small number of paper copies to be available to members of the community who did not have access to an online facility. This website is the host for the online version of this new Old School News.
